This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones Mintello uses, and how you can control them. This is a separate document from our Privacy Policy, which covers broader data practices.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — such as your login state, cart contents, or preferences — so you don't have to re-enter them each time.
Cookies We Use
Essential Cookies — required for the site to function. These cannot be disabled.
- Clerk authentication cookies — keep you logged in to your Mintello account. Set by Clerk (our authentication provider). Expire with your session or when you sign out.
- Cart session data — stored in your browser's localStorage (not a traditional cookie) to persist your cart across page loads.
- Cookie consent preference — stores whether you have accepted or declined optional cookies. Expires after 12 months.
Preference Cookies — remember your choices on the site.
- Country preference — if our system detects your country for shipping purposes, this may be stored locally to speed up future visits.
- Wishlist data — stored in localStorage for logged-out users.
Analytics Cookies — help us understand how the site is used. These are optional and only set if you consent.
- If you enable Analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 (GA4) may collect anonymized data such as pages visited, approximate location, device type, and referral source. We enable IP anonymization and only load GA after you opt in.
- If you enable Marketing cookies, the Meta (Facebook) Pixel may measure ads and site events (e.g. PageView, AddToCart). It only loads after you opt in to Marketing (or Accept all). No sale of personal data.
Third-Party Cookies
The primary third-party cookie source is Clerk (authentication). Clerk may set cookies related to your authentication session. See Clerk's privacy policy for details.
How to Control Cookies
- Cookie banner — use the consent banner that appears on your first visit to accept or decline optional cookies.
- Browser settings — all modern browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies via settings. Note that blocking essential cookies may break site functionality (e.g., you may not be able to stay logged in).
- Opt-out tools — if analytics tools are in use, you can opt out via your browser's “Do Not Track” setting or the relevant opt-out mechanism for that tool.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as we add or remove third-party services. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
